When choosing a barn manufacturer there are a lot of things to consider. Does the manufacturer cut custom barns or only offer kits? Can you make changes to the barn design or do you only get the styles they choose? Can you change the footprint, wall height, or roof pitch? Do you get to choose the wood species? Is the barn engineered to specifications in your area? Will the company help you decide what barn size and style is right for you and do their best to make it fit your budget? Will they give you a preliminary design for your approval before they start fabrication to make sure it is exactly what you want and need?
I would recommend contacting several companies and see what they have to offer. Ask for references or testimonials. Ask if they ever make mistakes, if they say no, you better run because everyone does. A custom designed barn may be a little more expensive but if you make the floor plan fit your needs you may be able to build a smaller barn and have it be very functional. Bigger is not always better if you can get the layout just how you want it.
